The MAV’s Digital Laboratories are a center for the production of new audio-visual systems constantly employed in the design and construction of new media designed to update and expand the museum facilities. The digital laboratory technicians and creators are available to firms, public offices and private sector for the realization of projects intended to transform reality into a virtual or digital content. The MAV is specialized in the development of numerous applications of virtual reality and multimedia communication, especially in the field of Cultural Heritage. The technological “know-how” developed by the AVM Studios is also at the service of firms who wish to use multimedia technologies for the presentation of innovative products or services.
A project in collaboration with the Archaeological Superintendence of Naples and Pompeii concerning a virtual reconstruction of the boat found on the beach at Herculaneum August 1982. The movie produced by AVM, was shown for the first time to the public in July 2009 in occasion of the inauguration of the new pavilion of the Herculaneum excavation. By means of accurate metric measurements and high definition photographic material, the reconstruction of scientific findings was carried out, and with the use computer graphics the boat appears as it was two thousand years ago.
